History

Horace Remington and Son purchased the lot at 91 Friendship Street in 1885 and constructed this building now on the national register of historic buildings. The company provided "refining and sweeping" services. That means they would sweep the floor of a jewelry manufacturer, process the sweepings and return the gold or silver to the manufacturer.
