History

This granite office building, designed by Winslow and Bigelow, was built by Joseph Banigan's estate. It has a steel frame and is fireproof. It is topped by huge bronze cornice. In 1910, the name was changed to the Grosvenor Building. In 1954, AMICA, a Providence-based insurance company, purchased the building and the name of the building changed to reflect the new ownership. Major restoration work was conducted 1980-1985.
